Details are emerging about rock nerds Weezer's new album. We know its been produced by the band, Rick Rubin and Jacknife Lee. There's a poorly lit new band photo (see above). It may or may not be out in July. And it will be called
Weezer. Yes, just like their 1993 self-titled debut album as well as their third self-titled record in 2001. The difference is that their first album had a blue cover, and the third a green cover. It's mooted that this one will have a red cover. And as such, by harnessing the same creativity gone into their recent catalogue, will hitherto be known as 'The Red Album'.
Elsewhere the "touched" Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo is running a project on YouTube whereby fans are helping him write a song. It's up to installment 4 at this stage but you can see its genesis in the clip below. Fingers crossed ex-bassist Matt Sharp has a camera phone and a sense of humour.
