First off, we’ll go with the solo debut from Mr Julian Casablancas of the Strokes. After knocking off a lovely little track for the Dark Night Of The Soul project with Dangermouse, Jules has announced the release of Phrazes For The Young and the cover art on his
dot com. It’ll be unleashed on October 16 here, a few days before the US and UK release dates.
Ohio blues duo The Black Keys have announced a release date and tracklisting for an imposing hip-hop collaboration, recorded under the name Blackroc. The 11-track album will feature guest spots from hip-hop heavy hitters Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Pharoahe Monch, Jim Jones and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, and will emerge on November 27.
Massive Attack have told NME that they’ve ditched two versions of their fifth album but are shoring up the new sounds. It will have guest appearances from Damon Albarn, Elbow's Guy Garvey and Martina Topley-Bird.
Goofy duo Flight Of The Conchords have announced a tracklisting for their second album I Told You I Was Freaky. Ten of the thirteen tracks have already been released on iTunes, though, so there won’t be too many surprises. The hard copy, with lyrics and chords included, will be released in late October.
We might be stretching it a little, but Weezer have revealed the cover art for their seventh album Raditude, due out on October 27. Check out the ultra-rad pic at their
dot com and see if you can spot the cowering cat in the background. The photo first appeared in National Geographic as part of a reader-submitted gallery. Classy.
And finally, my favourite Swedish garage rock unit C.Aarme prepare their third album World Music for release on October 14. Sample their frenetic tunes on
MySpace.
