Bin juice, big cities, bling, beer and bi-lingual big bands...the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival series is back.
The festival, once a Melbourne only event, has swelled in recent years to include nearly every other major city. In 2006 the festival expanded to Sydney, on to Brisbane in 2007 and earlier this year Adelaide was added to the list.
In February next year Laneway will hop the Nullabor and introduce itself to Perth. Not only that, the Western leg promises to be "extra special". Damn you Perth with your soft evening light, aren't you special enough? Furthermore, the event is to be held in the "truly exceptional" Perth Cultural Centre.
There are some location shifts elsewhere on the Laneway train. The Brisbane site shifts to Alexandria St off St Paul's Terrace, Fortitude Valley. The Melbourne site - which enjoyed a much needed expansion into Lonsdale St last year - extends further north into Little Lonsdale St and the QV building. Adelaide site Fowler's Live receives a new stage and an indie cinema, while the Circular Quay location in Sydney remains unchanged.
And the line-up? Hot debuts, bar bands, seasoned professionals, some usuals and the current king of mash-up:
