We already knew that Franz Ferdinand were coming to play the
Falls Festival, Southbound and
Sunset Sounds right? Here come the sideshows.
The band are running around at the moment testing new songs from their upcoming third record
Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, due out on Janauary 26th. It is, in the words of frontguy Alex Kaparanos, "to fling yourself around your room as you psyche yourself for a night
of hedonism, for the dance-floor, flirtation, for your desolate
heart-stop, for losing it and loving losing it, for the chemical surge
in your bloodstream." Translation: getting
munted on the piss.
Judging from the little we've heard so far, the threat to ditch the guitars and go keyboards isn't quite true. And is it just me or is 'Lucid Dreams' (below) just a guitar honk away from becoming a Scissor Sisters track?
Reciprocating the love perhaps.
Tickets for the two lone Franz sideshows - in Melbourne and Sydney, naturally - go on sale October 29. Support comes from the newly Johnny Marr infused The Cribs and Sydney band Red Riders.
