No longer New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo,
Flight of the Conchords have, unbelievably, debuted at No 3 on the US pop charts.
The duo's self-titled
album, on American label Sub Pop records (and out in Australia on
Stomp), sold a staggering 52,000 records in its first week of sales. They entered the charts at No 3, above Ashlee Simpson's
Bittersweet World which sold 47,000 records to enter at No 4.
The album joins The Shins
Wincing the Night Away as being the first Sub Pop records to chart in the US Top 10.
Wincing the Night Away debuted at No 2 in January 2007.
All of which is a thin excuse to post one of the greatest clips of all time. Bret's angry dance.
