With the announcement that the Byron Bay Arts and Music festival that was set to return in January 2009 has been cancelled, northern punters might have their consolation prize. The fabled Falls Festival folks are coming to Brisvegas.
The Falls team is taking this years Festival line-up and sending it north. Dubbed
Sunset Sounds - not to be confused with Soundwave, Summadayze or
Sunset Studies - the event will be held over two nights in Brisbane's
Botanical and City gardens.
Wednesday 7th of January will see THE HIVES THE CAT EMPIRE, THE KOOKS, TEGAN AND SARA, SHARON JONES & THE DAP-KINGS, GOMEZ, SOKO and locals YVES KLEIN BLUE perform across the Garden Stage in the Botanic Gardens and the Riverstage in the City Gardens. The following day will herald FRANZ FERDINAND, THE GRATES, SANTOGOLD, DONAVON FRANKENREITER, ASH GRUNWALD, CW STONEKING and locals I HEART HIROSHIMA.
Now a permanent fixture on the end of year festivus scene, the Falls Festival regularly sells out both their Lorne VIC and Marion Bay TAS installments in record time. More information is available at
