Echo and the Bunnymen have cancelled their Melbourne Laneway performance.

Last week organisers announced that the legendary UK band were pulling out of the Brisbane Laneway festival - happening right now - and were to be replaced by The Dirty Three. Now comes news that the Melbourne event will be suffering a similar fate.

Echo & The Bunnymen to no longer perform at Melbourne Laneway Festival

The Laneway Festival regrets that Echo & the Bunnymen are no longer to play the Melbourne Laneway Festival tomorrow.  Lead singer Ian McCulloch, who was due to arrive in Melbourne tonight, has missed his flight from London and won't make it to Australia in time for the scheduled performance. At this stage, all other Echo & the Bunnymen performances are due to go ahead as planned. A replacement act will be announced shortly.

Midnight Juggernauts will take their place.

The Laneway Festival apologises for any inconvenience.

With the Sydney leg of the festival happening on Sunday, that will have to be a quick flight change if we're to see the band anytime soon.
