The dates for
Good Vibrations 2009 have been announced, with news that Aussie ex-pat
Sam Sparro, the indie-electro buzz-kid, will be a part of the Festival.
Presale tickets to the dance music jamboree will go on sale at 9am this Friday to Jam Music Members only. But in a bizarre press release delivered by the organisers, it read "we strongly suggest you get in quick with tickets as they will be out the door faster than you can say ‘who’s on the lineup’?!"
Indeed, with mutterings lately from the music industry fraternity about the current trend of lacklustre festival lineups that sell out, well, quicker than you can say 'who's on the lineup?', it seems the Good Vibes folks themselves are banking on people buying tickets to the festival solely on its reputation, rather than the acts that are playing on the day. Shame, really, that this is the new route festivals are pursuing.
Perhaps we're reading too much into the PR rhetoric, but the organisers have also said: "Its not gonna just be the norm. It will be Harder, Better, Faster & Stronger than 2008." Are they intimating the return of Daft Punk and the almighty neon pyramid? Now that would be worthy getting up early for. [But somehow, we doubt they'll be back.]
