Twenty-eight year old US singer/songwriter
Conor Oberst has been called many things over his short life. From precocious, to visionary, to "emo" to the next Dylan. There's a grain of truth in all those descriptions. But what remains fascinating throughout his massive body of work, is the keen analytical eye he casts over not just himself but the world around him.
Conor Oberst is the singers "debut" solo album, despite releasing ten albums under the Bright Eyes moniker, as well as a swathe of recordings under alternate names, formats and styles. On it he experiments with the country-tinged flavour that first started creeping in on
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, but with the quiet moments of still introspection and wordplay that rightly made his name. Opener 'Cape Canaveral' is one of his most concise, gorgeous tunes yet.
Conor comes to Australia in October. Listen to the entire album now on TheVine music player and see the
Gig Guide for tour details.
