If the sudden digital release of the sonic laser show that is
Intimacy didn’t give you enough of a jolt a few weeks back, Bloc Party’s new single and video ‘Talons’ might just be the proverbial taser you need.
Recorded during the Intimacy sessions and produced by Paul Epworth, the track is one of a bunch of non-album cuts to be released as singles and bonus material once
Intimacy gets physical in late October.
‘Talons’, it seems, is pretty much on-par with the group’s new sound – pulsing with fractured beats, occasional lashings of half-buried guitars, swathes of glittering synths and computer-born intonations.
The video is where the action really starts though. It’s pectorals and half-light all the way, with a typically self-loathing Kele careering around shirtless against an ominous post-industrial backdrop. Everyone else in the clip is clothed, so I’m not sure why he’s topless. I guess it could be like one of those dreams. You know, when you walk into the super market, give an assured wink to the deli girls, then realise you’re not wearing pants. Or not.
He is hot though, and hot sells. Buy it…or something. It’s not my call.
