I’ve only been following the Kim Dotcom thing rather loosely since it flared up last week where Herr. Dotcom was arrested at a, no doubt, lavish party. It’s a very Hollywood way to be arrested IMO.
The news that actually piqued my interest is that Dotcom was also a bit of a gamer. The guy doesn’t do things by half measures—until a couple days ago, Dotcom a.k.a. Megaracer, was the number 1 playa worldwide on Modern Warfare 3. Which also happens to be the second most pirated game in the world behind Crysis 2 (copyright holders will surely attribute a percentage of that ranking to Dotcom).
Taking out top spot in the MW3 is no small feat. 15 million legal copies of the game have been sold and there are millions of online sessions every day. Dotcom had loads of money and, evidently, loads of time to rack up 150,000 kills. Not that I could even hope to be that good if I was that loaded.
No game has ever had me that entranced… ‘cept the Mario Kart series, which Dotcom also claims to be very good at.
If you have managed to avoid the news, the German millionaire was the founder of file sharing company Megaupload, which was hammered last week as a result of an FBI investigation.
Dotcom has been charged with the usual offences that you might imagine any alleged file sharing kingpin can be decorated with—USD$500M worth of charges. He is currently fighting extradition to the US, after losing a bid for bail.
Dotcom is still connected to the net despite being behind bars. If it's his genuine account, he's still active even today! And this tweet on Tuesday:

He also claims to have eaten a panda and killed 3 people, possibly including a homeless guy—despite all that, I quite like him!
