Photos of Afghanistan in the 60s

Photos of Afghanistan in the 60s

William Podlich was an academic from Arizona who, in 1967 as part of a position with UNESCO, moved to Afghanistan for two years with his wife and daughters to teach in the Higher Teachers College in Kabul. As an amateur photographer, Dr. Podlich rigorously documented his family’s time there. The photos now provide a rare insight into life in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion in 1979, and make for pretty beautiful viewing.
