Barely intelligible but admittedly epic post-jazz-punk rockers
The Mars Volta
have already sold out one of their shows in Melbourne. I bet
Scientology is big in Melbourne too. The band are touring Australia in
June on the back of their
The Bedlam in Goliath record, which
the band claims was largely conceived of whilst members were in the
possession of a cursed ouija board. The board apparently enabled the
band to be in contact with spirits, including the "Goliath" of the
title.
The curse that descended on them - according to their band-sanctioned
Wiki
- included such occurrences as: "audio tracks sporadically and
literally disappeared off the screens". OMG! If only Father Merrin from
The Exorcist was there. Or someone with a hard drive. The curse was
only broken when the ouija board was buried in the ground at an
undisclosed location, over promises to never speak of it again. I
wonder if the "location" was a furious publicist's office.
