Design is for everyone and fashion should be free, fashion is a transient and fickle friend whose favourite hobbies include exclusion, bullying and becoming dynamically obsolete.
Fashion leaves many victims in its wake like those who aren't pin thin, those who don't have money to burn and those who care more about the planet than their pinstripes.
It's time for fashion to take a long hard look at itself with the view to include rather than exclude. To offer a helping hand is The Clothing Exchange with an event that makes fashion free!
For The Clothing Exchange team ‘design is a verb’ as the feedback from one event is channelled into the development of the next to develop a professional swapping service based on equality.
In response to a fashion industry that worships size nothings and doesn’t acknowledge that the average Australian woman is a size 14, this swap caters for womanly women who wish to swap garments they don’t wear for those they will in a friendly, social context.
Why not embrace a little patriotism too and bring forward all your locally designed ‘wears’ to exchange?!
Just bring up to six garments or accessories you no longer wear but think others will value to exchange for a ‘new’ wardrobe. Why not?
Rid your conscience of those guilt-inducing ‘skinny jeans’, clear the closest of the pre-loved frocks and those designer shoes that were always half a size too small?! Join us for an entertaining treasure hunt through an eclectic mix of styles, fashions and fads!
To save your place or for more information about what to swap and how it works check out www.clothingexchange.com.au.
Admission is $18.
