Brisbane Festival 2008 has a huge programme of events ready to burst into action on Friday 18 July.

Across 17 days the Festival will feature over 900 performances of a programme that includes theatre, dance, opera, physical theatre, music, multimedia, cabaret, visual art, fringe theatre, conversation and an extensive program of free community events in the suburbs and even in people's backyards!

Brisbane Festival Artistic Director and CEO Lyndon Terracini said "I'm excited about the 2008 programme and looking forward to delivering these amazing events and artists to Brisbane's residents and guests during the festival. Be adventurous and enjoy!"

The Festival will commence at 7.30pm on Friday 18 July with a massive FREE performance by THE BLACK ARM BAND: MURUNDAK at River Stage, City Botanic
Gardens.

Fresh from a sell out and critically acclaimed performance at the London International Festival of Theatre, THE BLACK ARM BAND: MURUNDAK is a once in a lifetime experience. At Brisbane Festival, for the first time, this all star Indigenous ensemble will appear for free and at a large scale outdoor venue, ensuring access for up to 10 000 people.

Throughout the following 16 days, the public will be offered the chance to see some of the world's greatest performers as well as a plethora of opportunities to celebrate the cultures and communities of this great city.

And there's so much more! For the full program of events, including the ORIGIN ACROSS BRISBANE event nearest to you, please visit www.brisbanefestival.com.au.
