We went to Target on Saturday to see how much of the Posen stuff had sold. First impression is - Melburnians don't like pirate shirts. Like Jerry Seinfeld who only wore one under duress, Melburnians had left loads of these shirts on the shelves. There were racks of white ones and red ones still dangling. Which is not too surprising, because when we tried them, we did look a little blue beard.
The range was released on Thursday April 3rd and popular pieces were evident by what had been cleared from the racks. In the fitted "Ponti" dresses and winter coat style all the popular sizes had vanished - a sure sign that Target and Posen picked the audience perfectly with these pieces.
Blouses featuring loose sleeves and baroque beading were still available in all sizes, as were the Posen "signature print" blouses.
Target will not yet release sales figures, but from what we can tell, even with a designer name on the label, Melbourne shoppers are still very style savvy.
