Our taste for brights is continuing apace, but in the designer denim realm, demand is for the first time higher than supply. Enter J Brand, whose new Pop range of super bright, super skinny mid-rise jeans have gone so cult stateside, even Cathy Horyn is writing about them.

Since the brightly coloured jeans have gone on sale, about 100,000 pairs have been snapped up stateside (including by celebs from the ultra stylish, rock and roll Coachella set to… well Kim Kardashian). To put that figure in perspective, it's enough sales to pull a pair of pink denim skinnies onto every third bottom in Canberra.

Now, you can get them locally, from Paddington in Sydney's Come As You Are boutique on Oxford Street, and online at FifiLuxe. So far the whole range of colours hasn't dropped into Australia yet, but it will over the coming months. The pretty pants are less than $200 a pop, thanks to our winning dollar.

For a local alternative the Ksubi Kolors range are similarly bold and cost (hold your breath) exactly the same amount… Well ok, the Ksubi Kolors are 95 cents more. Fortunately Come As You Are and Ksubi are basically next to each other, so if you're Sydney side and want to brighten up your butt, then I'd suggest going to both stores and picking the pair that most flatters your form.

Not quite as bright, but at least as cool is the new Superfine lookbook, which continues to prove itself the anti-Victoria's Secret of catalogues by inviting the most rock and roll models in the world to slip into nothing but a pair of their Superfine skinnies. Well, OK, since Superfine have expanded into ready to wear, there's a bit more to it than that, but everything is just as covetable as the jeans for which the brand first became known. The AW11 Gypsy Punk collection features ranges for men and women 'Fascination Man' and 'Sister Midnight'. Fabrics have been treated with a new technique 'Hide' that gives the jeans an effect that is almost reminiscent of cracked leather. Tees, stretch leggings and jerseys have also been treated for a leathery effect, and the result is textural heaven, in a way that still feels sort of grimy. The Gypsy Punk look book was shot by Jan Welters, styled by Lucy Pinter and stars Irina Lazaraenu, Natasa Vojnovic and Stephane Olivier.

Oh, and if you're drawn into the darkness that Superfine is offering, you can buy their wares from That store, which is conveniently located a few doors between Come As You Are and Ksubi.
