Hi kids, we're in the thick of festival season and you know what that means! Button up those denim cut-offs, slip on your best racer-back tank and Havaianas, and stumble to your nearest showground for a day of loitering in the sun, getting sniffed up by police dogs, and if you’re lucky, padded down by policeman/women FOR REAL. Kidding. I wouldn’t be caught dead in denim cuff-offs. In an effort to encourage some less than predictable festival dressing this year, take your cue from regulars Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and Kate Bosworth, pull your act together and feel free to consider the following:
1. Soludos canvas slip-ons
A palatable alternative to ‘pinga slippers’, (canvas slip-ons from Raben footwear etc). Soludos have a straw and rubber sole and come in a huge range of colours and prints. They also have a collaboration range with Palm Beach-based label, Bassike, which earns them suitable street cred.
2. Panama Hat
Oh you’re going out on a boat today, or on safari? How exciting! No you’re not but you can look like you are, with one of these babies. Panama’s are also 100% washable, which is excellent for those with a penchant for crowd induced beer/vodka showers.
3. Vanishing elephant ‘Attendorn’ shirt
Head to the men’s section. Grab one a few sizes to big. Undo a few button and roll the sleeves. Wear with a cute pair of shorts, like the below pair by Lover. If you’re lucky enough to be shorter than 5”5, you can probably pull one off as a dress too.
4. White Converse
Cons are the answer to all your footwear problems. The end.
5. Zimmermann ‘The Calm’ panelled dress
I really love this season’s collection and their brocade dresses are well worth the investment. Perfect with white converse or leather sandals and a panama hat.
6. Lover ‘Infinity’ shorts
Somewhere between shorts and a skirt Lover has totally nailed it with their trademark shorts that we see re-appear season after season, with good reason.
7. Lucy Folk bracelets
Let’s not neglect the fine details. A couple of these mixed with existing bracelets are a colourful and original addition. Plus, I love tacos, especially the wearable kind.
8. Bassike stripe tank dress
Cut out the middle-man. Belt it. Done.
9. Avene thermal spring water spray
Now there’s no excuse for being a sweaty beast. It’ll keep your face cool and skin hydrated.
