When I was a kid I wore a red gingham checked shirt (to match my sister’s blue gingham checked shirt), corduroys and school shoes with lace ankle socks on weekends. Maybe I’d mix it up a little with a pink and grey striped parka that had removable sleeves for ski and après-ski looks and a Tom & Jerry sweatshirt for really special occasions.
I definitely didn’t have a denim jacket with leather sleeves, a tie-die sleeveless hoodie, fingerless gloves or shiny snakeskin leggings. My life could have been so much different. If Izzy Wolf was around all those years ago and I got my sticky hands on one of those jackets I’m sure I would have been first in line in the tuckshop queue, had everyone clamouring to hold my hand on school excursions and, in true rockstar style, eaten Coco Pops for breakfast every day.
