Lately, and most likely inspired by Llamas wearing hats, I’ve been getting the type of hat cravings that only a fedora can satisfy. Bowlers, military caps, and top hats may come and go but fedoras seem to be the slickest thing one can place on their head. Do you think Indiana Jones would have looked as professional if he wandered around caves (I’ve never actually seen the movie, he wandered around caves though didn’t he?) in a beanie? Would Michael Jackson’s moves have been equally as smooth if he did them while wearing a visor? Probs not.

The current fedora at the centre of my hat desires is by New York designer Eugenia Kim. Much like its iconic style of the hat, Kim’s fedoras are a hand made work of art, designed to last the test of time. Eugenia Kim’s hats and headbands have graced the crowns of Gwen Stefani, Kirsten Dunst, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna and more recently We Killed Couture blogger Madeleine in the above photos.

Each style is hand made, with Kim choosing to use Microsoft Excel, over sketching, to develop her quality designs. The designer also recently released a range of hats for Target in the US last month.

Eugenia Kim ‘Max’ Fedora hats come in black, ivory/black and camel/brown and are currently available at Frockshop.
