Puma turned on proper old time party last night for Sydney Fashion Festival. What made it so good? A talented performer - Mr
Lyrics Born - loads of champagne, stacks of canapes, an ambient and compact venue and guests who really wanted to be there, like our
competition winners.
Runway shows and sportswear can be a bit *yawn*, but this one was hot and the crowd loved the choreographed popping, rocking and swaggering sorted out by Nacho Pop from TV show
So You Think You Can Dance. Well-dressed b-boys and b-girls replaced note-taking journalists in the front row, cheering and applauding the talented guys like Double Ooh and Hide Boo on the runway.
The point of the hype was the new Puma clothing range, of course, and
I'm sure some noticed their short shorts, cute rain slickers, logo
tees and outerwear. With Lyrics Born booming during the parade, it was hard to focus on the clothes. The man sounds compelling on record/mp3/CD but live he has an energy and passion that's rare and addictive. Even if he did say "make some noise", we forgive him and those who didn't were too busy bopping their heads to care.
