Overnight success is such a misunderstood phenomenon. To the public eye, celebrities seem to come out of a nowhere, created in a factory of primp, poise and perfection. Behind the instant glory of fame comes a shitload of sweat, tears and obstacles.
To the naked eye, Trife Parlour Crew is a double dutch duo extravaganza of ‘New School Ghetto Glam’ that have hit Melbourne with a whirlwind of flash. Chip away at the surface and you have two of the hardest working hustlers on the constant grind to get their movement on the map.
Like a perfect jigsaw puzzle of mutlicultural magnificence, Suez aka Hyclass aka Titty Tribal Breast Lady and Kate Jean aka Junkie Boozehag have blitzed the DJ scene in Meltown in a crucially short six-month bumrush escape from their Perth hometown. Skitzing the scene with a kaleidoscope of colour, sensational fashion and ridiculous beats, the one thing you won’t see from this crew is a stereotypical representation of the hip hop/scenester movement that seems to be so massive at the moment.
Flavouring their dopeness with their Samoan/Maori/German/Fijian/African American/Spanish/Scottish backgrounds, TPC believe, that “between us we figure we're the U.N of bi-racial babies and for a better explanation, we're racial leftovers ... damn fierce ones at that.”
Best believe they look good doin’ what they do! Kate is an ex-fashion student and junkie for ghetto-vintage fashion as well as an uber flossy jewellery designer. Suez reps some of the flyest steez you’ll see in Melbourne.
Regardless of everything they have overcome in their struggle to be taken seriously as women in hip hop, women in music and women in general, these tough-talking booshies are on a steady climb to world domination. Constantly on the grind, the ladies run a weekly night - Zebra presents Parlour Tricks at Red Violin in Melbourne’s CBD every Sunday where you’ll get loose on a hypnotic cocktail of Baltimore Booty, Miami Bass, Crunk, Hip Hop, Indie Electro, Uk Garage and Grime. Make sure you keep on the TPC tip at their blogspot.
