Inspired by her grandmother, a former cosmetologist who blended her own creams using secret ingredients sourced in the Latin America, Hayek has spent the past two or three years researching methods and ingredients for a number of anti-aging products.
“I'm trying to develop a line with a drugstore so that it is affordable for everyone”, say Hayek. “My whole approach is how can we get the essence of the really expensive [brands], but for everyone to be able to afford”.
Hayek's French billionaire François-Henri Pinault is head of one of the world's premiere luxury goods groups, PPR, so it does seem strange that she has chosen to develop a luxe for less brand given his cliental.
Nevertheless, Hayek’s new line - to be named Maria Luisa in her honour of her grandmother - is sure to be a hit. Hayek is revered for her age-defying looks and fresh, natural approach to beauty.
