Introducing Paula Kyle Walden, the Brisbane based accessories designer/model (yes, that’s her in the pictures) that is making magic from simple twists of Perspex. After collaborating with designers Gail Sorronda and George Wu, Paula Walden’s latest collection ‘Starlight Echoes’ brings wearable art to a fashionable frontier with sculptural statements, fluid formations and quirky treble clef headbands.

While my only experience with Perspex was the making of a boat in woodwork in grade nine (it floated, I passed, thanks for asking) during that time I learnt that it’s hardly a material that you can use with ease, however Paula’s unique use of the shiny material makes it look like a whimsical breeze.

There is more to the designer than Perspex, as Paula often clashes materials and experiments with different fabrics including lace, metal, crystals and even feathers.  A designer to watch out for in the New Year.
