Well New York Fashion Week is officially alive and kicking and the team at The Grand Social have dragged themselves across the Pacific to bring you, lovely Vine readers, all the hottest trends, gossip and Australian action in the Big Apple.

Karen Walker’s latest New York offering is being hailed as her greatest to date and we say hell yeah!  The collection mixed nautical stripes, Edwardian frills and a dash of 70’s psychedelia to delicious effect along with Walker’s trademark crisp lady-like aesthetic.   Her seventh back-to-back season in New York, Walker told us after the show she feels very much at home showing in the US.

Charlotte Ronson (sister of music producer Mark and DJ and ex-LiLo lover Sam) sent a celeb friendly collection of acid-wash bodysuits, strong shoulders and asymmetrical party dresses down the runway for her latest collection.  Rachel Rutt walked in the show and here’s some gossip for you, we hear organisers closed the VIP entrance early in fear that Ms Lohan (in town this week) would make a last minute entrance.

British designers Preen shunned the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week to return to New York this season and we’re sure glad they did.  The collection played with antique lace, soft silk de chine and dense ruffles, lending a romantic air to the blazers, blouses and patchwork dresses and pants.

Alexander Wang has become the American fashion It-boy for his ‘off-duty model’ style of tough biker chic meets new grunge meets all-America sportswear.  This season, Wang has exchanged his black leather for a buttery caramel in a statement biker jacket and tie-front shorts as seen on Abbey Lee.  Wang continued with last season’s khaki in the form of dresses, oversized jackets and rolled low-rise baggy pants. 

The Wang after-party proved to be the hottest ticket so far this week with an evening filled with non-stop celeb spotting heaven!  Held in a fully functioning petrol station, complete with candy stocked shelves for the taking, Mischa Barton, Pixie Geldolf, Erin Wasson, Alice Dellal and Jared Letto were letting very loose to Courtney Love (who we managed to catch during a very entertaining pre-party sound check, demonstrating she hasn’t lost that bid-girl attitude) and Santogold live.  Amazing!
