Meet My Sunday Feeling. If My Sunday Feeling was a girl she’d be one of those free spirited babes that didn’t have to wear much makeup but still look glisteningly gorgeous, didn’t have to bother exercising because her metabolism was lightening fast and she rode a bike everywhere she went, and never spent much money or time looking for clothes, but still always looked like a walking indie fashion editorial. If I was to pick what she would look like it would be a cross between Isabelle Lucas and Natalie Portman.  In short, if My Sunday Feeling was a girl, you probably would want to hate her, but for some reason couldn’t.

Designer Melody Jasmine could in fact be the girl equivalent, currently living the surfing life at the Gold Coast’s Kirra beach and making beautiful clothes in between swimming waves. Avoiding the usual seasonal collections and becoming a slave to the fashion cycle, Melody produces mini collections every week, featuring a new range of prints and embellishments each time. “This way I can keep the creative energy flowing, the range is forever evolving and the buyer will truly have an original piece every time.”

Dedicating hours to each dress with “most of the time spelt fiddling with hand sewing,” My Sunday Feeling’s garments are made from vintage fabrics, hand worked crochet, antique linen, embroidery, and are designed to inherit a nostalgic, wearable charm “almost like a walking music boy, playing your favourite tunes.”

Despite the granny lace, sweet florals and wholesome handmade goodness, the label isn’t all sugar and sunshine, with enough sheer fabrics and cut out details to make your nana blush a bit. The recent look book photoshoot saw the Lolita-esque collection paired with black boots and a top-knot to give the garments a modern edge.

“At the moment my collections are based around sixties and seventies nanna craftwork with some romantic folklore and hillbilly holly thrown in,” says Meldoy, who aimed for the photo shoot to be a cross between Dominque Swain in the 1997 edition of Lolita and Stevie Nicks.
