German boutique lingerie label,
Wundervoll, goes from indie cool to femme fatale with its summer 2010 Noon collection. Cast in shadow, the collection retains the retro elegance Wundervoll is renowned for, but this time has a neo-noir twist. Indeed, the look book imagery is seductive and intriguing, with noir elements of dangerous enigma and taboo sexuality intermingled with architectural underwear.
Based on a palette of earthen tones, the range takes the back seat to feminine silhouette- rather than being the focal point, Wundervoll’s lingerie acts to enhance and attract attention to the supple curves and subtle grace of feminine movement. Celebrating feminine form seems to be at the crux of all Wundervoll endeavours, as the label ceaselessly uses sculptural lines to define female beauty- and for summer, her eternal mystique.
Key pieces include Wundervoll’s now signature high waisted briefs that wrap around hips like second skin accentuating that so captivating curve that is itself an astounding feat of architectural genius, albeit a naturally occurring one. Bras feature the Wundervoll spires, formed on a base triangle and mimicking skyscrapers with their heavenly pinnacles. Styled into the shoot are high-waisted man trousers, a nod to the Wundervoll tradition of creating underwear that is intended to be seen, not only in the intimacy of the bedroom, but as craftily exposed outerwear, say, under a sheer top or with pants and blazer.
