Young Hunting gets animated in an exclusive editorial for TheVine
Animated gifs as an artistic medium - nicknamed the cinemagraph - are just beginning to gain mainstream popularity, and they're ideal for editorials.
Recently, to showcase the latest collection from her label Young Hunting, Melbourne-based jeweller and creative director Candice Agius collaborated with Hana Davies, a promising emerging Australian photographer to produce an animated gif editorial exclusively for TheVine.
The story stars Chadwicks' Chris Gillies and Pheobe Higgins, features styling from Mariella Everette and Julian Sapinski and hair and makeup by Jamie Richardson.
Young Hunting's La Luna collection is the label's third offering, and explores the theme of protection in a threefold manner. The selection of stones used in the range are mythologically associated with personal strength and the repulsion of evil and are also believed to draw their power from moonlight. The collection has an outre aesthetic that emboldens the wearer, and finally, the settings used for each piece are uniquely crumpled metals that look like a cross between armour and the the crinkled skin of a helping hand, evoking a sense of shelter. Agius handmakes each piece of Young Hunting jewellery herself, and selects her crystals from her personal collection of stones - which she has been gathering since she was a child.
