Zia Ziprin's childhood was far less ordinary than mine. While I aspire to one day become a shoe designer and collect more than 1000 pairs of shoes, she has done just that.

Zia and her sister Dana own a New York store called Girls Love Shoes that hires shoes out for $60 per week or $350 for a 12 week season. The amazing collection features over 3000 pairs of shoes, mostly vintage from her mother's collection hunted down at estate sales and flea markets.

Zia has just launched her own line of shoes in her own name and in true form, her designs are anything but ordinary. The line of mostly wedge heels and boots feature a concave heel shape that looks comfortable yet unique.

Zia's shoes are handmade in New York.

Zia says "to me shoes are collectible and precious works of art. We should not wear these shoes, we should insure them."
