Ms Fitz goes back to bling

Ms Fitz goes back to bling
One of our dopest, flyest and most ghetto glammin’ exports, Ms Fitz is at it again! Not content with styling some of the biggest names in show bidness, she’s now turned her hand to expanding her fledging jewellery line, at the same time injecting some much-needed colour back into the stark New York sky line. I bombarded Fitz with a six-pack of questions to find out just why she’s about to takeover the big smoke with her biggie bold Brooklyn based designs!

What the hey? Not only are you styling some of the dopest shoots in NYC, you've now just dropped a killer jewellery line...tell us all about it!
I love making jewellery, it’s a great medium. Styling can be restrictive because you're working with other people's designs - sometimes the outfits and accessories I want use simply don't exist- so I had to create them myself.
I hand make all the pieces here in Brooklyn from cottons sourced from Amish communities, bold chains sourced in New York City and tie-dyed myself. I wanted to create something fun and wearable, something a little chic and glamorous and something that everyone could access around the world! That's why I have an online store.

This ain't your first foray into making dookie and hip hop inspired jams...why now drop your own line...and what do you hope to get out of the entire experience?
I've always made jewelry, and after creating the collections for Tina Kalivas and Trimapee, and custom pieces for Semi Precious Weapons for the Gaga Tour, and Chew Fu for X-Factor and I thought it was about time to just do it for myself. I hope to spread the Ms. Fitz love all over the world, so that everyone can enjoy the feeling of expressing themselves and throwing some color and chaos into their style.

Who do you wanna see rock the Ms Fitz 'A Kind Of Magic Collection'?
The obvious answer would be to say that I want to see more pop stars like Rihanna wearing my designs, and I do, but I really would love to see more people generally take risks with color and style! There are pieces in the collection for everyone, some statement pieces you could style with a great cocktail look, and the knotted necklaces look great with something as simple as a pair of jeans.

I adore your love affair with colour...do you think you'll ever be able to change the whole New York 'black' stigma...what is it about them that makes them adverse to colour?
I have no idea why they don't like color! It's the same in Melbourne.. I think they think that black is classy, which it can be, but color can be too! I think that exploring your style is something that everyone can do, in their own way, so fuck 'em and their stupid elitist ideas! Being a misfit is something to be celebrated!

What's up next for you and when are you coming home so we can cuddle!!!?!
I wish I could come home for a visit!
At this stage I don't have any immediate plans to make the trip though.. I'm too busy! But I would definitely come back for the right project. I miss Australia!
LOVE, COLOR AND CHAOS!!
