Grunge in the '90s was all about being cheap, but this decade the trend is different. Having clothes that look cheap when we all know they cost an arm and a leg. Not a new thing, the entire hipster ideology is built on this exact philosophy.

I might sound a little cynical, and truth be told, I am. But this week I had to swallow my cynicism as I purchased a pair of boots that really bring out my inner grunge.

Laceup boots are typically associated with Doc Martens and ripped denim. These boots are slightly more feminine and I don’t really wear ripped denim, so I can assert that grunge has indeed advanced.

These lace-up boots from Tony Bianco are ultra comfortable and work with all manner of outfits. Grunge enough to feel like you’re keeping up with fashion, but still feminine and in my mind doubtlessly timeless. I think the saving grace of boots like these is not being ultra military or tough, but having a girlish elegance, and a nod to traditional victorian times.

These boots remind me a lot of my equestrain days and the traditional lace-up equestrian riding boots that have been replaced by pull-ons for ease of use. Mixing equestrian elegance with 90’s grunge gives us these gorgeous boots.

Buy these Tony Bianco boots from Santini for $240.00.
