Last night W Magazine held it's 69th Annual Golden Globes party. This is always a fun occasion, because it gives you a bit of a taste for red-carpet wear, without going full, hands-down-tux-pants formal. Plus, it's W Magazine, so instead of being shockingly boring, stars actually feel they must make some sort of nod to fashion.

Tilda Swinton stole the show in an all white pants suit ensemble (she always does), while Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who I've been in love with since Scott Pilgrim, also looked wonderful in white. I just know someone's going to cast her as a cut-price Zooey Deschanel Manic Pixie Dream Girl (as opposed to the flesh and blood punk girl she played in Pilgrim) soon, and I'm going to have to start hating her, but for now I'll enjoy how snow white pretty she looked. Also in white was Miranda Kerr, who confuses me by walking high fashion shows while wearing nothing but vaguely fifties feeling, 'man getter' glamourwear on the red carpet. Maybe the white dress and red lips were part of the newly inked Qantas contract?

Elizabeth Olsen embraced the trend for tropical, while Emma Stone and Jessica Biel both looked like absolute knockouts in body-con dresses, Stone's was panelled with a flash of embellishment, while Biel wore neck-to-ankle discoball gold, and much to everyone's relief and excitement, did not look to be suffering from an eating disorder.

Lydia Hearst looked dashingly casual in a Burberry printed cocktail frock, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Emmy Rossum felt formal and ethereal in a oyster-hued gossamer gown and red satin shoes.

Ali Later's red jumpsuit with bold metallic collar was a stand out, while Rachel Zoe's outfit couldn't have shut down an office printer.

Chris Hemsworth continued to be a very handsome, very large man, much to the delight of the woman next to him, while Charlize Theron, who I love, did not look her best in a curvy black dress. She's so conventionally gorgeous and so clearly razor-sharp-smart, it'd be nice to see her experiment with suiting.
