The up-coming October issue of French Vogue marks the magazine’s 90th anniversary. Most 90 year olds I know tend to celebrate with a home made cake, an hour dedicated to The Young & the Restless and a glass of Pimm’s, but not this golden oldie. It isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, producing a whopping 622 page issue. Of those pages 276 pages are dedicated to advertisements and 104 pages are of congratulations from a range of international designers

The issue is set to hit stores around the 20th of September, just in time for Milan Fashion Week and a good week before Paris Fashion Week begins. Gap toothed cutie Lara Stone stars on the cover and inside the issue features 150 pages worth of photoshoots by photographers Mario Sorrenti, David Sims, Terry Richardson, Steven Klein, Hedi Slimane and duos Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Editor Carine Roitfeld made a conscience decision to avoid an issue solely based on nostalgia, and instead blends imagery and articles from both the present and past, including a black-and-white portrait and interview with actress Romy Schneider, printed exactly as it was in 1962.

A beautiful collection of oversized photographs taken from over the nine decades will also accompany the issue (in France at least) as a gift to readers. The price of the issue has increased slightly but the global print run has also been increased by 40 per cent to 280, 00 copies, in anticipation of strong demand. Keep an eye out at news agents or pre order the issue from selected book and magazine stores.
