Resist.Revolt.Rebel. - One Teaspoon AW12 from TheVine on Vimeo.
This season One Teaspoon have pulled out all stops on their campaign video, recruiting upwardly mobile, alt-girl model of the moment Krystal Glynn to star in the short, which was directed by award winning surf filmmaker Taylor Steele and shot by New Yorker Paul De Luna in the rough and windswept hinterlands of Byron Bay.
The collection itself is pure Penny Lane, all sexy seventies extra-flares, denim and leather finishes and folksy embellishment with an edge of easy sensuality. A little messy to be sure, but that ripped and raw look is very much a feature of the brand's aesthetic.
With a breathy, moody beginning under a drizzling sky, the film’s soundtrack and selection of impeccably dishevelled urchins makes it feel as if a selection of Game Of Thrones wildlings have been recruited for a street wear campaign. The swelling, emotive, movie score style soundtrack, and Antipodean forest setting also bring to mind Lord of the Rings and (guilty pleasure viewing) Legend of the Seeker. Once Glynn captures her flag and returns out into the field, the effect is somewhere between poetic and comedic.
This isn’t the first One Teaspoon video to feature an it girl model wandering a picturesque setting, the brand did something vaguely similar last year with Bambi Northwood-Blyth, but it is the best.
