Fashion news this week has been dominated by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs — whose 15-year reign at luxury label Louis Vuitton will be the subject of a major exhibition at the Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris from March 9 until September 16 — will not be taking over the top job at Dior. Jacobs told The Telegraph  that it was a decision that was “probably best for everyone,” leaving Jil Sander golden boy, Raf Simons, the most likely contender. “It's a great honor to be considered, and Mr. Arnault is a super intelligent man,” Jacobs said. “But I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started."

WWD has also reported that Louis Vuitton is teaming up with Yayoi Kusama for a wide range of accessories, Ready To Wear, shoes, watches, and jewellery. The Japanese artist will presumably swap LV’s trademark monogram print for polka dots — she’s famous for putting them on pretty much everything. Although the pieces won’t show in Paris this March, they’ll hit stores in July.

This week has also seen the release of the new Marc by Marc Jacobs’ campaign. Shot, as always, by Jurgeon Teller, it stars British model-socialite, the half head shaven and perennially raccoon eyed Alice Dellal. It’s shaping up to be a big year for Dellal — first came the news that she is the new face of Chanel’s ‘Boy Bag’, then an ad spot for Ermanno Scervino, and now this.

More in brand ambassador news — Alice in Wonderland star Mia Wasikowska is the new face of Miu Miu. The burgeoning Australian actress replaces Guinevere van Seenus, who starred in the Resort campaign, and 15-year-old Hailee Steinfeld, who starred in last year’s UK-banned Bruce Weber-lensed train track shots (remember those?). The just-released Miu Miu campaign is all lurid yellow and pink, with Mia sitting pretty while wearing flowers in her hair, oversized cameo jewellery and clashing vintage-inspired prints.

We think Mia is the perfect pick for Miu Miu, and not just because “Mia for Miu Miu” sounds cute. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for Balenciaga’s choice of Kristen Stewart to front its new fragrance. Despite the Twilight star’s offbeat gothic style (read: converse and sequins) and her reputation as a “fashion pariah,” Nicolas Ghesquière thinks she “embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence.” Perhaps if the scent was geared towards tweens (it’s not) the move would make sense. Stewart’s onscreen co-star Robert Pattison turned down a million pound contract with Burberry in 2010, stating that he’s “an actor, not a model” — we think the same can probably be said of Stewart.***

David Beckham, on the other hand, could sell anything. Especially underwear, which is what he’s doing in a collaboration with high-street retailer H&M. Becks bares all in the just-released campaign, showing off a taut, tattoo-covered torso while modelling his namesake tighty-whiteys. Although wife Victoria is a fixture on the fashion scene, this is the British footballer’s first foray into design. The collection also includes T-shirts, pyjamas and long johns.

Model Andrej Pejic has garnered something of a cult following over the past years for his unique androgynous beauty. That cult following has just hit a new fever pitch, with some mysterious man from the States getting his forearm inked with Pejic’s face. The tattoo replicates a photo of Pejic taken by Sabine Villiard for BMM magazine, with the addition of a pair of angel wings. As pointed out by Refinery 29, it kind of makes Pejic look like Claire Danes in the costume party scene in Romeo and Juliet.

And how’s this for a tattoo art idea: Dutch illustrator Mike Frederiqo has turned iconic cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants into such as fashion icons as Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Terry Richardson and Marc Jacobs (the star of this week’s news wrap who, coincidentally, already has a SpongeBob tattoo). Go on, get some underwater pineapple-dwelling kitchen utensil on you. We dare you.

***(Ed note: Actually, I think Kirsten Stewart is perfect for Balenciaga, she has the same kind of subtle, intellectual beauty as former face Charlotte Gainsbourg, and outside of the chintzy Twilight flicks she's an amazing actress. Aside from her tendency to remove her shoes, which is kind of in fitting with Balenciaga's vaguely punk rock spirit anyway, she's been a red carpet knock out for the last two years, and her fashion week appearances are always extremely elegant. What do you think?)
