Never one to shy away from headlines, Kanye West has been making his name felt within the fashion industry of late. He recently claimed to have dabbled as an intern at Fendi, was a front row fixture at the European fashion shows and has released a short film entitled Runaway with a strong focus on costume. But despite his well documented love of fashion, Kanye West has recently furrowed a few fashion brows by hiring a 19 year old Yale dropout named Cassius Clay (yes that is his real name) to be his stylist.
According to the
New York Post, Mr West noticed Cassius’ gold embroidered slippers while shopping in department store Barneys. After complimenting the blonde teen, the unlikely pair started talking and eventually the Louis Vuitton Don encouraged Cassius to become his personal stylist.
Jumping at the chance Cassius has since taken an absence of leave from Yale, and has begun upping Kanye’s swag with tailored suits and dapper bow ties. He also chose the rapper's all red outfit when he performed recently on Saturday Night Live.
The fateful slippers worn by Cassius not only gave the teen the opportunity of a lifetime, but also lead to a collabration between Kanye and the shoes' creators, Stubbs and Wootton. The company is now planning to create a West crested shoe which will be available in the US next summer. Must have been some pretty damn impressive slippers!
