Glue wants you to win a career in fashionGlue Store, one of Australia’s biggest street wear retailers, is giving one emerging Australian fashion designer the chance to win a career.
1% Glue, a competition based around the 1% luck it can take to turn talent into success, will find a designer and produce their capsule collection, then sell it in Glue stores nationally.
The winning designer’s range will be manufactured and distributed by Glue, and the winner will receive a percentage of the revenue made by the range. This no risk, all reward opportunity to launch a label means that the winner’s takings will be determined entirely by the retail success of their designs.
In addition to getting their collection produced and sold, the designer will also win a paid six month contract designing for Glue Store, along with mentoring and other career advice.
This competition is unique in that it gives emerging designers tangible manufacturing and distribution support, in addition to financial aid. Getting that first collection made can be the biggest financial risk a designer faces, and 1% Glue eliminates that problem.
Stage one of the competition is now underway. Glue Store are currently seeking four to six piece capsule collection submissions at 1%Glue. From there a panel of judges will pick the strongest forty submissions and go through a stage of interviews to determine the final winner. First round submissions close on February 14th, so get in quickly.
The panel you’ll have to impress if you enter includes Glue Store’s buyers, Becky Cooper from Bec and Bridge and oh yeah, me!
I can’t wait to see your entries, so get cracking and good luck (not that you’ll need it).
