Foot fetish: Watch the banned Brian Atwood campaign here

Brian Atwood’s latest advertising and video campaign has been banned by the Madison Avenue building that houses the 11-year-old shoe brand’s inaugural flagship store on grounds of indecency.

Starring South African Victoria’s Secret Angel, Candice Swanepoel, the campaign that ran across iconic September issues has been deemed too racy to run as banners, and its accompanying video has been banned from New York City’s rear-seat taxi TVs for its lasciviousness. (Just putting it out there that its probably not a bad thing people aren’t watching maybe/maybe-not orgies in the back of cabs.)

As many fashion films (and their subsequent stills) do, Brian Atwood’s blue-tinged commercial blurs the boundaries of provocation and pornography. Critics argue that the black basque-wearing Candice Swanepoel smoking naked, watching explicit material and cavorting with two (maybe more?) naked men, does, in fact constitute as inappropriate – no matter how good the featured shoes are.

The theme of the sexually charged campaign is “the sex is in the heel” and Brian Atwood himself has explained that “there is something so sexy about [the ankle] and these shoes celebrate that.”

You can watch the video below, but probably shouldn’t if you’re at work.
