Last night, the most eagerly awaited presentation of the year, the Woolmark designer award, was made to masterly young Sydney tailor Dion Lee. He received $10,000 and a trip to fashion events in Italy and France.

Vogue editor Kirstie Clements enthused: ''Dion has already made an impact on the local industry with his concise vision, but the benefits he would gain from exposure to Pitti Filati or Florence and Premier Vision in Paris are impossible to measure.''

By Janice Breen Burns, The Age.

We described Dion Lee's latest collection How to Be Invisible as, "Icy, cybernetic and carved with sharp lines and unexpected cutaways, the new collection from Dion Lee is as breathtaking as his previous."

Last year's winner was Romance Was Born.
