Cannes red carpet best dressed 2009

Who's saying what

natasha polly is a golden godess!! one of the most under estimated models

Cannes has been described as something like New Year's eve every day. More specifically, that's what Dean and Dan from DSquared call it. As I churn through all the frock images, I see they're a right on the money. There's a veritable sea of chiffon and sequins to sort through before you get to the gems.

The top nine are, in no particular order.

Carine Roitfeld in D&G at the Dolce e Gabbana party. Sling some simple leopard-print over her shoulder and she's ready to rumble.

Diane Kruger in Chanel haute couture and Marchesa. Pretty much the hottest blonde starlet going around. Paris would be her if she could. Kruger is cute, does great up-dos, is funny and a very relaxed wearer of Karl's couture. Always gets her smokey eye make-up right.

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace on the red carpet. A nude goddess gown and red lips. Scorching without being exposed - Karl's "new modesty" embodied.

Charlotte Gainsbourg in Balenciaga on the red carpet. So Frenchy so chic. Gainsbourg wears hardly any make-up drawing attention to her clever wardrobe choices.

Anna Mouglalis in Chanel at Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky photocall. Just plain elegant. More navy blue on brunettes please.

Delphine Chaneac at The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus premier. An ad for short hair right here.

Natasha Poly in Roberto Cavalli at the Inglorious Basterds premier, and in liquid metal at The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus premier. Could do with a pie, but  just look at the clever silver cheekbone highlight. That's what I call cheekbone du jour. Definitely one who knows she's made for silver and greys.

Eva Herzigova in Dolce e Gabbana at the amfAR party. Eva is a no-messing, non-stop supermodel. For that reason she wins for her scarlet dress and platinum hair combo. Much like Diane Kruger, she's the opposite of Paris Hilton who even if she had an everything transplant, couldn't make it onto this list.

Zoe Saldana is nude goddess number two in a DKNY-esque gown. Nude - it knows no limits. It's super slick and very appropriate for the economic conditions we face.

Finally, Ursula Andress! Congratulations on accessorising a career as a sex bomb with a silver jacket and some graceful aging. You out-bikinied all these stars before they were even born. I wish you had have chucked that jacket on though!

From a makeup point of view Natasha Poly's highlighted cheekbones are to die for!
