Whenever I decide to take on the enjoyable task of a clothes cull, I’m usually always at a loss as to what to do with old underwear. Giving it away to op-shops just seems strange, and yet surely there must be a better alternative then simply binning them all together? Well thanks to underwear label Berlei, now there is.

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, next month will also see the launch of the new Berlei Bra Recycle Program. The program aims to give less privileged women in Africa the opportunity to own something that has long been out of their reach, a bra. In addition to this, the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA) will receive $1 for every 10 bras that are recycled.

Once donated, the recycled bras will be delivered to Africa where they will be sold at an affordable price to local women, creating further opportunities of employment and also contributing to the reduction of landfill.

Keen to help out? From October 1st (tomorrow) simply drop your preloved bras into recycle bins in Myer and participating specialty stores and give your support to women less fortunate. For more details check out www.berlei.com.au.
