FAT’s annual limited t-shirt exhibition is back with an assortment of designers taking part in this year’s event. The exhibition will include one off t-shirt designs from Ffixed, Pam, Asuza, Bassike, Beat Poet, Therese Rawsthorne and more.

“We've done a tee that is called Mr. Hollow,” says Nick Van Messner, one half of the design duo behind LIFE with BIRD. “We were inspired by layers and structure and the visual appeal of cutting through this. Mr. Hollow is a silk and cotton jersey layered tee that is cut using a molar technique. FAT is where you go to buy black, so we naturally worked in shades of black.”

For her t-shirt, Perth/Melbourne designer Carly Hunter created a feminine tee that was a cross between her current winter collection and her new season spring collection.

“I used what was available to me at the time so it incorporates the white tulle and spots from the spring summer collection and I also added a lingerie strap.”

The pictured tee above is the design of Vanishing Elephant, who worked with Santa Cruz based artist Stacie Willoughby.

“We had Marc Hendrick from Das Monk put us in touch with Stacie Willoughby. We all really liked her work so had her re-work some of her pieces,” says Huw Bennett, one of the three designers responsible for the Sydney label. “It is actually a re-working of a Bonnie Prince Billy gig poster.”

See all of the designs on display at FAT’s Flinders Lane store from this Thursday with proceeds from the t-shirt sales going to White Lion. The boutique will also take part in this week’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, as part of the Designer Series Show 4, 6pm Thursday 3rd of September.
