So I was at the resort the other day and dang, I had not a jot to wear. I was all like "urgh, do I wear streetwear? There's no streets in this resort. A kaftan? I'm not Liza Minelli. A gold bikini? I'm not Katie Price. Grrr." You know the feeling? Thought so.

Vena Cava, the hepcat New York-based label has you sorted when next you're in a similar pickle. Their 2011 resort collection features plenty of dungaree hints, jumpsuits, little summer dresses and flippy handkerchief skirts.

Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock's resort collection was apparently inspired by 1970s sportswear, like the smart playsuit below, which is great, because that's quite the trend right now and will be well into next summer. The ideal resort for wearing this collection definitely has jugs of Pimms, rock star guests, disco tennis parties and cheese and kabana on little toothpicks.

But, maybe, just maybe, more resort collections could be inspired by what goes on at actual resorts you go to on your family holidays? Like the braids you're forced to endure at Kuta resorts in Bali, the fancydress parties that are so family friendly, like the swarms of redskins in the pool at Cancun and the kitsch and delightful touches in every honeymoon suite. That would be one barmy collection.
