Ready to wear can be ready to snore. Body sets us straight with ballet-inspired casual wear for Spring Summer 08/09

Showing easy to wear kimono-inspired knits and casual wear, Melbourne label Body shone in their group ready to wear show on Tuesday afternoon. Styled up with whimsical rocking horses, dolls and bird cages Body's SS09 collection is an elegant development of a strong, yet small label. Very pregnant designer Dainy Sawatsky drew on traditional Japanese kimono and obi, European ballet and nautical influences to pull together a very creative collection.

Highlights included a cut and paste striped knit dress, a butter yellow jacket with porcelain plate applique and a flowing double-layered cloud-style knit dress.

Body always delivers quirky, layerable knitwear that is somehow beyond fads and fashion. The label is very "Melbourne" and could almost be considered very "Wellington" were it from over there, in the way that it focuses on interesting fabrics, clever shapes and flattering cuts.
