Orri Henrisson, one of the most promising emerging menswear designers in the country, has just released his SS11 campaign, and we’re seriously taken by it. Shot by Matt Jordan of
Imelda and
The Style Tyrant fame and styled by James Dykes, the campaign stars Ash of Operator Please playing a teddy-boy type with just a hint of the juvenile delinquent.
Henrisson’s Spring Summer collection uses layers to play bravely with colour blocking. The range skirts between suiting and sportswear, capturing a casual-dressy spirit that is often lost in Australia’s street-saturated menswear market.
Tri-tiered shirts in icecream tones, multi-collared, multi-coloured polos and sharply cut slacks are standout pieces. The all-bright theme has been carried through to the campaign’s treatment – executed by Dutch modernist team
Lekkur studio – a very pretty tint effect that sits somewhere between stained glass and malfunctioning monitor.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the collection is its resemblance to Jil Sandler’s latest, acclaimed menswear range. European runway trends often find their way into the inspiration files of Australian designers, but in this instance, the range was finished well before Sandler’s collection showed.
While there are no plans for the campaign to appear in print as yet, it’d be great to see these shots make it to the pages of a local glossy.
