Karen Walker Eyewear’s Advanced Style
Kiwi-born fashion wunderkind Karen Walker released her new eyewear campaign today and the collection is a bright mix of unique shapes, quirky colour combinations and that signature blend of graphics and material innovation.
Walker’s brilliant new designs – glitter, cat eyes, and that beloved tortoise shell are aplenty – and celebrated renditions of the brand’s best-selling glasses have been shot by blogging phenomenon Ari Seth Cohen, of Advanced Style fame.
Bringing his inimitable eye and penchant for savvy old ladies to the campaign, Cohen has photographed Walker’s ever-fresh frames on four foxy women aged between 64 and 92, recreating that unparalleled sartorial spirit his work is celebrated for.
The models and 31-piece offering is a match made in eccentric style heaven, as Cohen creates the perfect visual collation with Walker’s directional sunglasses placed on unconventional, buoyant and ever-inspiring old women in the context of their very own New York City apartments. Not only is the campaign super fun, but it also has a unique authenticity, candidness and sincerity to it.
The collection is comprised of a vibrant, gleaming palette, in which pink, peach, teal, and neons update Walker’s ever-whimsical (but always functional) frames, complete, of course, with the iconic Karen Walker arrow on the glasses' earpieces – onward and up!
