Erin Wasson is ridiculously cool. So cool in fact, that she can hold her own against the human volcano that is Tyra Banks on America's Next Top Model and still sound chill at the end of it. That disaffected California drawl of hers carries straight into her creative projects. You can see it in the latest, Spring 2012, offering from her jewellery label LowLuv, which has that slightly beaten-up, off-the-beaten air to it that implies "Oh this, I found it while I was hiking the Sierra Nevada, and I thought it looked cool. I totally forgot I was even wearing it."
Given how the presence of Mexico has swelled in the trend-forecasting subconscious lately, that Aztec influence is an unsurprising but still welcome element to the range, which also features traditional Afghani elements like hand finished wooden toggles and horse hoof rings. These are combined with the jewellery motif of the moment - the antique coin - which we saw coming through in Bulgari and D&G's SS12 showings, all be it in a far more paired-back way than those glitzy Italian houses' takes.
As always, Wasson models the range herself, showing off her uncanny ability to wear an entire jewellery shop of accessories at once, and still seem nonchalant.
The LowLuv colleciton will be available at
House of Zoi from January.
