Beautiful hats of Brooklyn

Beautiful hats of Brooklyn
Brooklyn-based milliner Ashley Lloyd is resourceful in the truest of senses. How do we know? Her dad gave her a rattlesnake skin and she turned it into a hat (pictured) - a stunningly beautiful one at that. “You can still see the bullet hole,” she says. It’s things like this that make us inclined to tip Lloyd for some kind of millinery greatness.

At only 22, Lloyd has already learnt the trade from one of the best (Ryan Wilde, hat designer to Patricia Field - otherwise known as the stylist from Sex And The City) and has set off at a hectic pace with her relatively newfound skills. Lloyd’s interest in both the beautiful and the bizarre see her team together unlikely combinations, such as florals and skulls, which in her hands work perfectly. “I use animal parts and objects in general that people would generally dispose of,” explains Lloyd. “There is so much to be said for death existing amongst so much beauty.”
