The Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerld beauty collaboration is to die for
It’s Black Friday in the US today, and given our unrelenting levels of FOMO we’ve been trawling every online outlet for, well, anything we can get our hands on. Click Frenzy was a fail but the online shopping experience doesn’t have to continue to be.
If the objects of your affection today are of the beauty variety, we’ve lately been getting stuck into Shu Uemura’s latest cosmetics collection—a cheeky collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld himself—and in our humble opinion, a small recommendation is in order.
The two industry forces recently hooked up to make a bold 17-piece limited edition holiday set perfect for stocking fillers (or pick-me-ups if you’re lonely and into gloriously packaged goods) and the range includes eye-shadows, lip-colours, nail polishes, an updated version of Shu’s illustrious lash curler and, our favourite, a re-designed version of the Japanese giant’s UV underbase mousse.
At the crux of the collaboration is a character created by the Chanel magnate – the Mon Shu Girl – who, in all of her hybrid Japanese French glory encapsulates the range’s “Eastern, perfect, mysterious, modern” branding.
A long time fan of Shu Uemura, Kaiser Karl has exclusively used the faultless Japanese eye-shadows to colour his fashion sketches, and while illustration is not exactly the intended purpose of the opulent hues, at the end of the day, we feel that what we're essentially dealing with here is design.
The capsule products have recently hit shelves and the unique artisan beauty goods have this accompanying video in case you weren’t yet sold:
