We came to Target, we saw Posen and we left
We went to Target on Saturday to see how much of the Posen stuff had sold. First impression is - Melburnians don't like pirate shirts. Like Jerry Seinfeld who only wore one under duress, Melburnians had left loads of these shirts on the shelves. There were racks of white ones and red ones still dangling. Which is not too surprising, because when we tried them, we did look a little blue beard.

The range was released on Thursday April 3rd and popular pieces were evident by what had been cleared from the racks. In the fitted "Ponti" dresses and winter coat style all the popular sizes had vanished - a sure sign that Target and Posen picked the audience perfectly with these pieces.

Blouses featuring loose sleeves and baroque beading were still available in all sizes, as were the Posen "signature print" blouses.

Target will not yet release sales figures, but from what we can tell, even with a designer name on the label, Melbourne shoppers are still very style savvy.

Laila New citizen Laila ON 09 Apr 2008 10:13:34AM Firstly, I'd like to say I'm a size 14 and have a decent set of breasts - and found the sizes quite small for Target. There was no tit room that's for sure! Thank god really, because the fabrics used were so cheap it was nasty. I was living in Hong Kong when H&M launched its range of Roberto Cavalli. Now that stuff was nice. Cavalli managed to use cheap fabrics and make them look expensive and I got a few pieces I wear often and people ALWAYS comment on. When I'm living in Australia I usually buy Charlie Brown, Ted Baker, Marcs, George Gross Harry Who, Veronika Maine, Country Road etc - and this range of 'designer' clothing just pales into the realms of a joke when you put it side by side. Who wants a cheap brown suit that looks like it came from a sheltered workshop in China? Did you see those tacky pocket designs? I actually felt the multi-coloured pirate shirts looked better than the cheap suits, they were reminiscent of that bold print D&G feel a few seasons back. And who wants to repeat the Paulini 'fat' dress and look like a green sea cucumber? Sorry Zac, but try again next time.

aviator Royalty aviator ON 10 Apr 2008 03:35:30PM I am not a real fan of designers doing these deptartment store lines, although viktor and rolf did some hot stuff for H&M. But I guess that shows that H&M is a cool store to start with, compared to Target.

km New citizen km ON 13 Apr 2008 05:46:40PM I got an amazing pair of black flared pants and liked the collection, I didn't buy it all but at least the stuff was interesting... and i also disagree with the cheap brown suit statement. They also came in black and if i was in need of a suit I would have happily bought the jacket that matched the pants I bought and felt quite content, and sexy. I thought the detailing beautiful and fit (for me) perfect.
